Screen readers
The playback controls, menus and buttons have names that screen readers (VoiceOver, TalkBack, Narrator and others) read out, such as Back 30 seconds, Next chapter or Playback speed. Buttons shown as icons also show their name when you point at them with a mouse.
Solid panels for readability
If you use a background picture, the library's panels are slightly see-through so the picture shows. They turn solid when your device asks for less transparency:
- iPhone, iPad and Mac: Settings → Accessibility → Display → Reduce transparency (on a Mac, System Settings → Accessibility → Display).
- Windows: Settings → Personalisation → Colours → Transparency effects off.
- Every device: high-contrast settings also turn the panels solid.
The app follows a change straight away. To choose for yourself, set Settings → Appearance → Transparency to Always see-through or Always solid; Follow system settings goes back to the device's.
Lyrics and text you read along with always stand on a solid page, whatever you choose. Around a PDF's pages, Settings → Appearance → PDF background sets how much of the picture shows.
Dark mode and colours
Settings → Appearance has Dark mode, which follows your device until you change it, and twelve Color scheme choices. In dark mode, Invert pdfs in dark mode shows PDF pages light-on-dark while you read along. See Appearance.
Languages
The app is available in English and Spanish (Español). It uses your device's language where it can, or the one you choose in Settings → Appearance → Language. Some parts, such as the editors, the sleep timer and some settings, are in English only for now.
Windows: the title bar
On Windows, Anansi Studio draws its own title bar. Minimize, Maximize / Restore down and Close are at the top right, and you can drag the empty part of the top bar to move the window.
